Maid Check-ups and Foreign Workers Medical Examination
Foreign domestic helpers (FDWs) and other workers who are subject to Statutory Medical Examinations are required by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) to undergo a health screening or pre-employment medical examination before they are allowed to work in Singapore. If they pass the medical examination in Singapore, they will be eligible to obtain a work permit, which ensures that they are physically fit to work in Singapore. Once they have completed the medical examination process, they can begin their work in Singapore with a clean bill of health.

Other tests may be done include blood tests to check for HIV/Syphilis/Malaria Parasite, a Chest X-Ray to check for Tuberculosis, Urine tests to check for pregnancy & sugar levels.Upon receiving the in-principle approval (IPA) from ICA or MOM, applicants will be notified of the medical examination requirement, and provided with a copy of the medical examination form. The completed medical check-up report can be obtained from a designated clinic, such as our work permit check-up clinic, before submitting the application along with the in-principle approval letter to the relevant division of ICA or MOM.
It’s worth noting that applicants who test positive for any infectious disease will not be granted a work permit, employment pass, long-term social visit pass, or permanent residence in Singapore.
